David Dix is a senior partner with Luminous Strategies; a Pennsylvania based political consulting, marketing and government relations firm. He also works as a consultant for Tripp Umbach, a Pittsburgh based market research firm. David has been involved in politics since his teen years and brings a wealth of leadership and political experience, as well as a national network of politicos from both sides of the aisle.
Even before graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2003, David had worked for two Pennsylvania gubernatorial campaigns, the Republican National Convention, and for the Governors Office of Labor-Management Cooperation. Upon graduation, David joined the New York based government relations firm Rushmore Group LLC where he continued to amass an impressive political resume. In 2007, he made a partisan change by supporting Sen. Barack Obama’s candidacy for President. He served as the Pennsylvania Chair of Generation Obama leading the young professional outreach and NWPA Director for Voter Protection along with serving on the National Finance Committee. Most recently, He’s begun work to coordinate a national environmental agenda in partnership with organizations such as Green for All, 1Sky and The League of Young Voters; serving as National Green Director for the League of Young Voters, Pennsylvania Organizer for 1Sky and as a Green for All Fellow.
David also has a long history serving in leadership capacities for a number of advocacy groups. He served as President of the Pennsylvania NAACP’s youth and college division and was appointed by then Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge to the Governor’s Advisory Commission on African American Affairs, where he had the distinction of being its youngest appointee ever. David also serves as the Co-Chair for the Pennsylvania Hip Hop Political Convention, on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Young Professionals (PYP) and The YMCA Black Achievers Program, and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. He maintains close ties with his hometown of Erie, PA by serving as an Erie Ambassador a program of the Erie Regional Chamber of Commerce to improve business retention and expansion in that area. He was recently recognized by Campaign & Elections’ PoliticsMagazine as a 2009 Reed Award winner in the category Best Political Street Fight.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Government and Public Policy Major and a Bachelor of Science, Marketing. He currently lives in the birthplace of American democracy Philadelphia, PA.
