Emmaia is a long-time activist on housing, policing, AIDS and LGBT rights, as well as democracy issues in Northern Ireland & Palestine. As Director of Green Policy at the Center for Working Families, her last 18 months have been spent developing ambitious policy — now in draft legislation — to use the state’s leverage to massively scale up the green economy for climate change mitigation, jobs, equitable economic development and housing preservation. This work is built on an unprecedented coalition among big environmental groups, community-based environmental justice groups, labor, local workforce development and housing groups, green business and progressive actors in government.
Emmaia is also working on a new green labor project to tackle tenant issues and the tanking economy in the Bronx. Ask her about it!
